Post: RE: Firing up after 2 years idle

In the event, the Tbird fired up just fine. I had left it with a full tank of premium gas, and I remembered I had stabilized it with Seafoam. The tires are definitely done, but I expected that. Ot...

Post: RE: Firing up after 2 years idle

One other question re: tires. I'm trying to decide what makes the most economic sense. While I would like to put good quality tires on, the reality is the car doesn't drive in winter and in a year t...

Post: Firing up after 2 years idle

Hello! My 88 TC has sat in a dry garage for 2 years now.  Part of it was my father's illness and passing away last year, which demoralized me severely and caused my interest in cars to temporarily ev...

Post: 850CCA Battery OK for TC?

Was just going to get my 88 TC going for the summer.  The battery I bought 3 years ago is toast (junk!).  It was 800CCA.  I have a new 2 month old battery here I bought for a truck that is headed for ...

Post: RE: Smoke!!

Yeah. To be honest, I'm a bit nervous about trying it back in the TC, even though it tests OK. It did something like this to me before - discharged completely.. but that time I was able to recharge....

Post: RE: Smoke!!

Thanks guys. I did a careful inspection of the wiring and found the fusible link took the brunt of it.. nothing else melted or shorted. It does appear that I had a 'visitor'.. telltale rat droppin...

Thanks guys. And it wouldn't spark and smoke like that connecting the battery charger too? I had the battery charger plugged in and on but it wouldn't charge.. I don't know if it has some kind of p...

Ah.. that was the fusible link that burned? I guess it did what it was supposed to do then? :) I did find a spot on that wire where the insulation had ripped open a bit and might have been touchin...

Parked my happy running 88 TC on Monday. Left it for a couple days, came out to start.. nothing. No power anywhere. So I tried charging the battery. Zero. Charger won't charge it. So I removed t...

Sorry for the delayed response. The weather here has been *brutal* -- we broke a record for most rain that had stood since 1950. So I left the TC alone. Did some more hunting today. Couldn't fig...
