1988 turbo coupe exhaust question

I just purchased a t/c automatic with 34,000 original miles and would like to pick up the performance a little, I am not looking for 300 h.p. just a little extra kick. I have seen in other post that a dual exhaust is possible, is it still available or would I be better off with a cat back single exhaust system and where can I get it? I have seen pictures of a remote mount K&N filter, is this available or must everything be fabricated? I am sure these questions have been covered here before but any info would be greatly appreciated.

To start simple, you can get a replacment Filter that goes into the stock location. It helps, but to realize full potential, get the universal filter #RE0940 I believe it is. As for your exhaust, it depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. I would go with a 3" single system. Its cheaper and very efficent. If you have the extra money and you like the looks of duals, then go that way. I dont know of a kit other than ATR's stainless, but it costs quite a lot. You may want to contact XR7boost, hes selling his ATR Dual set up with the Pit bull mufflers at a good price. I am personally adding a dual setup to my 88TC, but it already has the stock duals.
What you may want to do, is go to www.sacramentomustang.com and look into there SVO exhaust Down pipe. If you get that, then have your local shop make the rest of the system for you, it will help alot.

Thanks nonetoslow, how do I get in contact with XR7Boost? Used at a fair price sounds great to me. If I get the universal filter must I fabricate a mount or is one available. Thanks for answering my dumb questions

Depends where you want to mount it. It'll mount right to the Vane Air Meter if you remove the stock airbox. To go into the fender, or a front mount, you will need to do a little fabrication. There is a whole article about it in the Tech Article section. As a matter of fact you will find many articles both there and in the FAQ section for new TC owners that will answer alot of your questions. Most of us had those same ones when we were new with them. Welcome to the board. Try searching the Archives and the sections mentioned above and you will be amazed at how much info is already there. questions you haven't even thought to ask yet will be answered. LOL

Just chalk it up to the excitement of having a TC. It has been known to cause temporary loss of reason. [Image: biggrin.gif]
