Post: A German Turbo, and a TC for sale.

Hello, I haven't checked in for a while. Looks like there's still a little traffic here which is nice to see. My wife and I just drove home in an '09 Volkswagen Tiguan (2.0T). Her, previous car, ...

yeah, dan, you'd think, but even walker provides different part numbers. Lincoln has the 4v heads (Marauder/Cobra) vs 2v (I think) of the Ford. There's at least a difference in the y-pipe section....

Post: RE: Ins and outs of 4.6l swap

Took it by a general mechanic today. Surprisingly, they traced it to the DS catalytic converter. That's good news vs new trans or motor, but still not cheap. I contacted a 2nd shop speciali...

Post: RE: Ins and outs of 4.6l swap

Took a few minutes today to look into it. It does not sound like it's coming from the engine. I got under it and had a helper rev it to produce the noise. It's a loud "rattle" that seems to be co...

Updated: not engine problem -- catalytic converter noise. Hey all. Hope there's some 4.6l knowledge lurking around here. My wife drives a high mileage '03 Aviator - DOHC 4.6l. It has run great ...

I don't recall any manual awd controls on the '03 we're buying. I do remember seeing that on the '05 we missed out on.

Post: RE: Considering an Aviator - insight?

Thanks for the input fellas. I always "thought" the expl's trans' were suspect, but had no first hand knowledge. The way this one drove and shifted was so smooth it was hard to believe the 136k on the...

Post: RE: Considering an Aviator - insight?

Unfortunately, the local 05 I op'd about got snagged unexpectedly. So I scoured cl for avi's in a little broader radius. Found three a couple hrs drive down the road in Wichita. So we took advantage o...

similar, yes. However, in looking at some common replacement part prices there isn't that much that interchanges. Rotors/pads, struts, tie rod ends, ignition coils, for example, all different. The Avi...

Post: Considering an Aviator - insight?

Hi guys (and a gal or two??) Thought i'd stop by and pick some brains. My wife's Montero sport is creeping up on 220k so I've been window shopping for a replacement. I came across an '05 Aviator th...

Post: RE: Anyone up on their Ford fwd's? About my SHO

This is a year old, but I just found it and thought I'd post the follow up... I replaced the CV shaft. No fix. I then convinced myself it was the lwr control arm bushing (which was quite a pain to r...

Sounds like you've eliminated most everying outside the gas tank. I would suspect the fuel pump. My car did the exact same thing for a while and I didn't know what to do about it. The shop I took it t...

I had a similar issue way back when and as it turned out the sock on the fuel pump had come off and the little screen on the FP intake was all clogged up with various debris. That would be a last res...

I think the speedo gear in my auto was gray. That was LOOOONG time ago though, so I can't say I'm positive.

Post: RE: How much is a 66,000 mile T5 TC trans worth?

YEARS ago I found one for $150 w/150k on it. I put another 110k on it w/no trans related issues. From what I've come to understand the t5's were pretty hard to tear up unless they're abused. Point b...
