I used the grease supplied with the TFI. I just assumed it was dielectric grease.
Im still gonna give it a couple days and see what happens. Ive asked quite a few people about Napa high quality brand Echlin electronic parts and from what I hear they are top of the line. I dont think it over heated b/c it started within 5 minutes of my second start-up.
Dont know about the TFI but the Echlin Knock sensors have the ford logo and part# on them. There are only so many mfg of electrical parts these days.

Trashlin, I have the exact problem. I went back to motorcraft TFI,PIP,ECT,KS,TPS and IAC. I am going back to Motorcraft coil, plugs and wires. If you find a fix let me know. lol

I've got Echlin tfi/pip on mine for a couple years now with no issues. The fact that you can instantly restart without any other issues and it's not bucking/jerking leads away from the TFI in my opinion. Generally people wait for their cars to cool down before the tfi behaves properly.

eric chances are napa bought cores and used the housings for the sensors. Ive seen alot of parts like that comes from parts stores.
I put some time on the car today and I could not duplicate the problem. It seems to have gone away. So Im gonna leave it in there and if it happens again Im gonna use Jims tfi testing and go from there.
Matt it was bucking and Jerking kinda stuttering but differently then my previous stutter and jerk.
All is fine now though.

You should get rid of the dielectric grease and replace it with the proper heat sink compound, even if your problem has appeared to go away.

Is this what was supplied with the TFI?

Brian, heat sink compound is usually white in color and doesn't feel as slick as dielectric or silicon grease. TFI usually comes with tiny packet of heat sink compound, barely enough to cover the back of the module. NAPA modules are reliable. Many NAPA parts are from OEM. I bought a NAPA fuel pump for our Cherokee and it had a MOPAR tag and part number on it.
In light of previous discussions on forks and springs, am I to understand you actually found a new clutch fork at a dealer?

problem is still there. seems like it is over heating to me. only happens after I drive for a period of time.
All the driving i did over the weekend with it were less then 10 minutes and I dont think it gave the TFI a chance to get to hot.
I drove to work today after the car sat from 10 am I got 2 minutes out from work and the same damn problem.
Stopping at radio shack tomorrow and then Im gonna get some heat sink compound and se if this solves the problem. then go from there.
I also did Jims TFI test and everything is coming out good from what I can see.

So i drive home last night, after I removed the TFI and removed the grease that was on there. I figured it would be better. But it started running like crap within about 5 minutes. I drove it home and and only did it for about 10 minutes (running like crap) so I picked up some heat sink compound went out and beat the hell out of the car and I couldnt get it to do it.
The heatsink compound was a thick pure white grease. the grease that was supplied was clear and kinda runny.
I hope this fixes the problem lol.
