I spent a couple years slowly building a high power sound system that started at about 200w rms and ended up at about 1000w. After about a year and a half with the 1000w worth of amps (and 226k) the old alt finally gave up the ghost.
I ended up going with a JY SC alt (110A) for $60, and soon after upgraded my small amp from 200w to about 400w so my total RMS power is ~1200w. The 110A has done a great job for well over a year now. Dimming is only noticable at idle.
