I drove mine in the winter for several years without incident (stupid lucky I guess) until I met a large deer. I rather quickly learned the turbo spoolup on turns in questionable conditions is not a good thing. I also had no choice on the winter driving - no 2nd car. Fuel switch on reg. setting helps LOTS. Now that I have another car, I don't drive TC in winter Smile

FOX platform cars are HORRIBLE in the snow. Had 2 late 80s / early 90s 5.0 Stangs years ago, and they were horrible in the winter. Park the TC in the winter and get a beater to drive. Our cars are getting too rare to smash one into a pole during a snow storm. Just my opinion.

With all season radials on my white 88 TC (since sold) I traveled through a 7-12" snowstorm at the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff with no real issues. However, I don't know how it would have done in the frozen tundra called Milwaukee.

Of course I drove a 2003 Mustang Cobra through two blizzards and an ice storm in January of 2005 to get to Vermont to pick up my Marauder. It wasn't fun at all, but slow and steady got the job done and that Cobra had 275 summer performance tires on it.

However, I'm all for 4wd when the weather gets real nasty!

It's all in the tires. My V70R w/ trac and stability control, walks sideways in any snow w/ Dunlop DZ's on it.

Met an ice storm last tuesday in the TC. Kept it under 20mph and made it home without a scratch. I have a new found respect for Cooper LifeLiner tires. Even on ice they still have some grip. Not much at all, but more than I have ever had with any Goodyear, Pirelli, Dunlop, Nitto, or Futura tires in the same conditions.

if you must drive a fox chassis in the ice/snow, add 100 lbs of sand bags or buckets of gravel, etc etc. makes all the difference...

When I lived in the Dakotas I drove my 87 TC (sold unfortunately) through some very harsh winter conditions. Deep snow, ice, and freezing rain... That TC pulled through it all. I always used Goodyear or Michelin all season high performance radials for traction with great results. It started reliably in cold weather down to -30 degrees with Mobil 1 in the crankcase. Great car!
