The rubber around my rear side windows is dried out and really sh*&^tty looking. Didn't these windows have metal moldings around them on earlier models (pre 88)? If so, are they swapable into an 88?

Thanks,

Rick

Yep, that's a real bummer on these cars. As you may have already figured out, the glass and the black molding around it are all one composite piece. Ford (and glass companies) no longer have these quarter windows so the best you can do it try to restore them. I am going to try to attempt using some sort of filler to repair the pits, etc. and then repaint them with some suitable trim paint. If all goes well, I will probably post an article to the tech area for all to read.

Someone on this board already did what you are suggesting. I think it may have been Jeff K. Anyway, whoever it was said they turned out looking very nice. I know it can be done, I used to paint cars for a living. Use something like PPG K200 surfacing primer with a flexative in it. Make sure to use a flexative in the color coat also. That will allow the paint to flex, rather than crack.
