I'm taking out my AC, what can I cut up?

I'm taking out my AC just because it's warm outside now and I'm bored in the afternoons. It's been my plan to delete the AC since I took the belt off of the non-functioning unit 4 years ago. What all does the AC consist of that I can remove without damaging anything else? I don't have the line disconnect tools so any lines will be sawed off. All brackets that go only to the AC will come off too. Anyone have any pics or good directions for what I'm about to do? The condenser is up by the radiator and I'd like to take it out too, but it seems to have lines that run to places that I can't see. Any and all pointers are welcome. 88TC 5spd

Check out Layla's page under the Project car section of my site. FULL A/C delete. You can unbolt the compressor and all brackets, the condensor (doo-hickey in front of the radiator), all of the lines, and the freaky bottle jug (evaporator) on the firewall. Lots more room for big turbos when you're done. BTW, Layla has EATC and it still workd PERFECT with everything removed.

I actually just removed my entire AC system, minus the hoses that go into the firewall. First off, make sure there is no pressure in the system. Once you have determined that it is empty (or you have bled off any pressure), you can go to town. IIRC, I pulled the compressor assembly first, snipping any hoses that needed to come out along the way. After that was out, I removed the condenser. Its just a few brackets (I believe we unbolted the radiator as well), some tricky maneuvering and it comes right out. I shed about 40 pounds when I pulled all that junk, and its nice having a much more open engine compartment.

My AC system had no pressure left in it whatsoever, and I wasn't about to pay for a recharge, so out it went (I never use AC anyways...). Good luck!

Also, if you saw the hoses, make sure you plug/cover any openings (turbo, throttle body, etc) to prevent shavings from getting in there.
