It's hard to tell what you have here...
The intake for a 87/88 should have both a knock sensor and an air charge temp sensor on the right side of the lower intake. It looks like you only have one sensor (knock sensor) on your intake.
The bracket atttached to the intake where your connector is would be where the engine harness connects to the fuel injector harness.
Please explain exactly what you have...
Engine (Intake) is what year? Car is what year? Wiring harness is what year?

The engine is a stock 1988
The car is a 1983
I have the wiring harness for the computer out (1988 with LA3)(which does not have the correct plug)
I do NOT have the harness for that specific plug out. That group of wire seems to go through the firewall and I don't know where it goes from there. The insturment cluster possibly?

Your problem is that part of that harness is connected to wiring from the ECU for fuel injector pulse, ACT, ECT, and knock sensor, which enters the engine bay on the passenger side. There should be a plug on the '88 harness that fits one of the plugs on the harness in question (the blue one I think). The part that's causing your problem enters from the driver side and is for oil pressure and coolant temp.
This is probably not the full list as you would need to compare wiring diagrams from the appropriate EVTMs. To further complicate your wiring, the '83 didn't have gauges for oil pressure and water temp., only idiot lights I believe. That also means the water and oil sensors on the '88 engine will be variable to drive the gauges and the sensors in the '83 will be on/off switches.
You really need the EVTMs to do it correctly and the appropriate sensors to map to the '83.
