Code 18 is an IDM failure code. Either the wire from the negative sie of the coil to the EEC that has a 22,000 ohm resistor in it is open, or, more vlikely you have a TFI problem, TFI connector problem, or wiring problem between the TFI and the coil. Of the few times I had a TFI failure on the wifes old Tempo, I always got a code 18 when it failed.
