so i rode to lunch in my friends 88TC 5-speed. we were comparing differences to my turbo stang, and we noticed that it sounded/felt like the turbo spooled early, and got done spooling around 4 grand. it kind of hit a plateau. car has a fresh tuneup with motorcraft wires/ autolite plugs, new distributor, egr, iac, etc....
is there anything in the vacuum system that could cause the wastegate to open/close prematurely causing it to stop spooling?? he boosts 16.5psi, but it just feels like it stops.
does any of this make sense??

Does he have the stock boost control solenoid? If so, no dice on crazy boost. He'll have to ditch it in favor of a Gillis or something similar to get more boost.
Is it the stock IHI? They spool a little sooner than the T-3, but I dunno what you have so it's hard to compare.
16.5 ain't bad [Image: rolleyes.gif]

His IHI "should" pull beyond 4K. Does his car have a LOT of mods including full porting, exhaust system and maybe a cam? Other possibilities include insufficient fuel or overly resrictive exhaust system (clogged cat maybe)

Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.
