You should see the way the car looks right now. Its been at school for the past 3 weeks. It all started when the distributor chewed its self up and took some teeth off of the auxilary shaft. They pulled the car in to replace the gears. Well, the front of the motor is apart, the hood is stood up beside the car, motor mounts are in pieces, the car is 2 feet in the air on a lift, the motor is held up by an engine hoist, the transmission is held halfway in by a floor jack, the exhaust is in about 3 pieces, and they still dont have the oil pan off yet. If it keeps up for much longer then a supercoupe has a near place in my future.

Does this paint a good picture for my birds future? Ill have pictures monday.

Thanks for letting me vent.

That should not have taken "...4 days..." to this point to fix. That should be done in a weekend with a little time in there to drink a few beers, ask me how I know [Image: wink.gif] . What is their hold up??? Not enough beer??? Just kidding.

Good luck though.

While I've never pulled the pan on a 2.3 in a TC, I have on a '86 Mustang. I did have to jack the engine up about 8-10", but didn't disconnect anything. Got it off, installed a new set of rod bearings, and back on in about 4 hours. That included running up to the corner auto parts store for the bearings after the pan was off.

I had called to be sure they had them, wasn't sure what I might find once inside. It had low oil pressure when hot, and had a slight rattle when easing up on the throttle. Got lucky crank was fine, it ran another three years till the Daughter got a Turbo Coupe. Actually a lot longer than that, cause I know it ran another 3-4 years after she got rid of it...

Sounds to me like "the guys" have no idea what they are doing.

Why is the exhaust in 3 pieces? Only need to unbolt the DP to pull the motor. Why isnt the motor on an engine stand? Are they working on it hanging from the hoist?

Since I have a new exhaust waiting to go on anyway they decided just to hack it up. Besides, the muffler kinda fell off in their hands, litterly. The engines not on an engine stand because my teacher wont let them pull it. They fought with him for 2 days over it to pull it and he said no.

Quick update.

Their starting to put it back togeather!!!!!

The motor was jacked up and the motor mounts fell out in 2 pieces, littlerly fell out! The transmission is out and laying beside the car and the transmission mount was broken as well. So there was basically nothing holding my motor in place. The oil pickup was full of metal and they found a valve stem seal in my oil pan. Still not allowed to rebuild it.

Anyway, new pump and pickup is in, oil pan is about halfway on, and a new trans mount is waiting to go in. Theres also talk of my 3" exhaust going on!!!

This is the first fime in a while that my frown has been turned upsidedown!!!
