I met the new guy at another office at my job. And we started talking cars. I have a pretty good general automotive knowledge. I can look at almost anything and if i cant name it exactly i can at least tell you about what it is. But anyway the guy tells me he had an 83 mustang that had a 5.0 and a t-5 That was completely stock.(just for personal reference does anyone know if they had t-5 in 83?) But he said that he and his friends bought and "installed" (words he actually used.)( Ive never heard a mechanic say he installed an engine) a 464 cleveland small block!I was completely shocked and didnt know what to say . So i just laughed and he couldnt figure out why. Is this not funny?

OK, here's a better one. The last place I worked, one of my co-workers tryied to sell me a load of crap about the operation of a basic clutch. Now the unbelieveable thing about this is that he had actually replaced engines, transmissions and axles on several of his own Jeeps.
I had casually mentioned that the clutch in my T-bird was starting to slip but that it was only in the higher gears that the slippage occurred. At this point Charlie offered his explaination for this problem. He said, and I quote: "Well you know how the pads on the clutch plate have a larger diameter on the outside than on the inside. That's because the outside (larger) part of the clutch plate controls the higher gears and the inside (smaller) part controls the lower gears."
At first, I thought he was just joking. But when I looked him right in the eye and realized that he was totally serious, I was completely speachless and just walked away and went back to what I had been working on.

Fistr of all the clevland engine is a small block engine with a disp. of 351. Unless it was bore out like trashline said then he is a lier or a sh*t talker. Second I do believe that the '83 mustangs didn't come with T-5's unless someone put it in themselfs. I used to have a 1975 Olds Cutlass that I had replace the 350 with a 1972 455 out of a Olds 98 thats shredded just about anything on the street that wasn't a full out race car. People would ask 'waht engine is that' I wouldn't say anything except "what do you think". I would get so many different odd ball sizes and that was from so called "EXPERTS" of cars. Then I was told also that there is no way a 455 could fit in the car. (mind you the 350 olds block IS bored and stroked out to make a 455 a 455 has taller heads) It just come to show you how many so called gearhead don't know there a** from there elbows. Sorry just my two cents.

Many times i had to drag a gas station jockey to look at the fuel gauge to read "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" I still have that engine waiting for a place to "INSTALL" it !

I thought the Windsor 351 was a small block and the Cleveland 351 was the big block? The 460 in the F250 I used to have was a Cleveland engine, and it didn't look like a small block to me.

I could be wrong, though.

The T5 was a mid year option for the '83 Stang.. I know a guy who ordered one new, waited till the 5 speed was avail to put his order in...

464cu in Cleveland?? BWAHAAAA... Yea right, ain't possible in 9.2" deck height block that has paper thin cylinder walls.. Maybe in a 400 block with a 4.5" crank(still only 459cu in with a .030 overbore), but I've never heard of one. He's full of $hit...

The 460 was a Lima Engine. Ford made some real big block gas engines on a hand assy basis in Cleveland but these were strictly industrial vehickle engnes. I can't even remember the sizes.
The Cleveland 351 was made in CEP #2. It was much different than the Windsor 351.

350 GM diesel. Makes a great boat anchor. I feel sorry for the people that paid money for those.
