I am highly impressed that my 3" sm downpipe, catco cat and ultraflow to a single 2 1/2" tp are QUIETER in the car but louder outside than the 2" midas crap that was under there. Even with it running bad, I could really tell a difference. Wow, quieter and better response.
And it only cost me $95 out the door to get it put together.
The little victories.....

Nice! I made the entire exhaust on my car (3" dp into 3" catco cat into 3" summit turbo muffler to a 3" tailpipe that exits right before the rear bumper) and I've been contemplating replacing the summit muffler with an ultraflow to help quiet it down in the car some more.

It doesn't look like it but the tailpipe is actually under the bumper and angled towards the ground facing the back of the car. I was tired, didn't feel like doing any more work and I also ran out of 3" pipe.

Got the Cat from summit racing.
The downpipe I got was for an 86 SVO which I think is the same T3 as an 85 Tbird. It still fits on my IHI. However I noticed some noise and exhast smell under the intercooler. Checked the bolts and they are on tight. It appears the flange is a bit less thick than the original and although it's tight, the nuts hit the end of the thread on the posts so it might need to be tighter.
There's plenty of info related to the cat and SM downpipe found in a search.

I got my 3" catco universal from Summit also [Image: smile.gif]
For the DP bolts, throw on a few shims and that should take care of that problem!

thanks 88turbo, you have given me an idea of what to consider on the exhaust exit spot. do you think its possible to exit the pipe before the tire... instead of after? or is there no clearance?
