Not a popular place for TC owners to be. I suppose that is a good thing.? I dont know if this helps but I am a collision repair tech if anyone has any questions or concerns about there car or a recent or even planned cosmetic repair.

I own an 88 TC with a strong engine and trans. The car has quite a bit of rust and needs a ton of body work. More work than I could justify investing.
I've been keeping my eyes out for another car either with a bad or no engine that I could buy inexpensively and swap my motor into.

Well I'm in the process of buying an 85 XR7 through the forums Smile It has some rust and could use a coat of paint. I'd been planning to do the work my self. I've been reading up online about how to do these kinds of repairs but I still have very little experience and no guidance. As this will not be a daily driver until I swap the engine over, and the timing on that is flexible, I can work more or less at my leisure on the restoration; there is no rush.

If, once I have the car, you could offer me advice or at least point me in the right direction it would help immensely.

That is the one area that I totally suck at. I can do pretty much anything, but body and paint is not something I am good at. So any advice from you would be greatly appreciated by all here.

It is tough to give advice online but I would be more than willing to give you pointers and ideas you could discuss or research on your own. Atleast that way you can get some educated decisions made.

Thanks! Hey, any advise as to what to do with the trim when you paint the car? Can the red stripe be painted? Do I take it all off the car and risk ruining it?

Some use a commercially available tape. I can't find the posts but 3M comes to mind. Others have done light sanding and buffing. One guy even sold some replacement kits but that closed up.
