Worn Clutch Master Cylinder??

So I've noticed that my 88 has difficulty shifting into 1st gear after driving around for longer periods of time. It seems to get worse the longer the car has been running. The transmission was rebuilt two years ago and the slave cylinder is only a year old. I'm unaware of whether or not the clutch master cylinder has ever been replaced. Do you guys think these symptoms could be from a worn clutch master cylinder? If so, any recommendations on which brand to replace it with? Thanks!

I never had a master cylinder issue but Is the clutch hydraulic system losing any fluid?

Check the distance the slave cyl moves when the clutch petal is fully depressed. Slave should move .53 inches minimum. If it does, the hydraulic system is working correctly.

No it hasn't; that was the first thing I checked and the level has remained the same. Although, the fluid was also the same level when my slave cylinder went. The internal components pretty much self destructed and the system lost all pressure.

I do have to check this; I'll take a look at it this weekend. If it moves less than .53 inches, would you say master cylinder since the slave is new or what else could I possibly check? Checking in mind that the system isn't losing fluid.

I'm also thinking that it may be my clutch. When the transmission was rebuilt two years, we looked at the clutch and thought there was roughly 50% life on it. I've only owned the car for three years now so I don't know the history of the current clutch. I'm going to be installing a Spec Stage 3+ in the coming months so if the hydraulic system checks out then maybe this is the issue.
