Wiring Disaster

Hey Guys,

So I have been rebuilding an 1983 Turbo coupe with an 1984 parts car for wiring. I moved all the wiring over and now the radio, cigarette lighter, dome lights, power mirrors, turn signals and a bunch of other stuff is not working. When I try to use the power antenna switch it turns on the fuel booster pump and some of the warning lights. Needless to say it seems like power is back feeding somewhere. If anyone has some advice/ tips they could give me to help diagnose the problem that would be great.

Thanks,
Matt

First thing I would do if I were you is (if you don't have them already) get a set of the factory shop manuals along with the EVTM and wiring diagrams if you can and double check all of your circuits.

You need both the 83 and 84 wiring diagrams and carefully compare them to see what is the same and what is different. Not just wiring, but theconnector pinouts also. Ford loved to (and still does) change wiring from year to year and even withing a model year. You would think 83 and 84 would be the same, but there were likely changes between the 2 years.

Yay, I got the problems resolved, turned out to be that the person who had the car before me did some interesting wiring and mixed up some wires, probably why he sold it to me for so cheap Wink
