That was 15+ years ago... I'll look around and see if I still have that motor around or maybe I picked up another at some time.  Just have too many parts and boxes to know what's what offhand.  I guess that is a good reason to through and attempt to organize stuff!

Also, do a search here for “wipers”, Rob H. just had this or a similar problem last year I think.

A new wiper motor solved all my problems. The wipers wouldn't park. The governor module squealed like a quiet tornado siren(when the wipers were off) and in rainstorms sometimes the wipers just wouldn't shut off. Oddly enough, they would go on until the rain slowed and it had a few seconds without water. I told people it had rain detecting wipers. I suffered for years listening to that sound. Literally years. Reading every post on here, always thinking that it seemed the solution must be as easy as swapping the motor, at least if you summed it all up the way I had. But what if it didn't work and I was back at square one with a part I don't need?
Jeez. It was like $80 on Rock Auto. After I finally just did it, did I ever regret not doing it right from the get go. For a while, I was chasing the whining sound most more than the other issues, but that was coming from the governor module (up above your left shin while driving).
If your wiper motor is old, and you can spare the money, I'd say go for it. I looked into that whole tab bending thing. I didn't go that route simply because I wanted a quick swap. I kept the old motor, still have not got around to it.
Just noticed you guys had said about cleaning the contacts. My memory from when I read it was that they were bending the contacts slightly as the thinking was after all the years they had become misaligned. It sounded like the kind of thing that you might end up having to do every once in a while. My hand was so chewed up trying to get that damn clip off the arm out of that little access area. I hope to not do it again. Is there a trick to it or is that just how it goes? If I recall correctly, I eventually had success after making myself a little bed of old sweatshirts and climbing up on top of the engine and laying down.

Thanks... I do recall it was a little difficult getting the clip off but not too bad to remember how much so... probably well over 10 years ago. For now they are working, just the delayed park, haven't noticed any noise yet. I did see the wiper motor on rockauto and will order one to have on hand.

Update... I actually ordered one from O'Reilly, same Cardone 40295 part, just cheaper $70.99 vs $74.09 (including the 5% discount) and has a $2 vs $5 core and free shipping. Also had a $5 off coupon ready to expire so total delivered came to $73.68. Not sure if I can just bring the core back to the store or if I need to pay return shipping but may just keep it anyhow.

Actually come to think of it, it's not getting the clip off that is the hard part, it's getting it back on! It's an awful position to be working in. Mine popped off after I did it, probably because it's all but impossible to work on it and look at it at the same time. Maybe I just had bad luck, but I tried SO MANY times to get that thing on correctly. That's why the bed of sweatshirts happened. It was that or remove the hood Smile

Well I finally changed the motor the other day. Was actually pretty easy! Found that while laying across the engine from the passenger side it was easy to reach the clip and remove the linkage arm.

I did have a problem getting the linkage to slide back on, would only go on about 1/2 way. Finally removed the motor and was able to get the linkage over the the access hole to see what the issue was. Ended up just spraying the linkage opening with a little lithium grease and it slid right on. Was able to easily reach in and reattach the clip while laying across the motor from the passenger side and now the wipers park and operate correctly.

Well that motor didn't last long!  Wipers no longer park!  Good news is the cardone unit has a lifetime limited warranty.  Ordered a new one online from O'reilly's, they said just bring the old one back for a refund.

I had same problem with mine a couple years ago and changed motor and still did not park.I read about poor ground with the motor  bolts and put a wire from one of the bolts to a clean frame ground and it has worked ever since.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that.

Semi related, has anyone else had problems finding wiper blades that fit the posts on the wiper arms? Everything I have tried leaves the wiper blade flopping around on the arm and it's annoying.

I posted this back in February and see you replied to the thread... they fit fine and work well, no chatter! Not sure why the link isn't showing correctly but you should be able to find it by searching your posts.
