I posted this back in February and see you replied to the thread... they fit fine and work well, no chatter! Not sure why the link isn't showing correctly but you should be able to find it by searching your posts.

Thanks, I forgot about that and missed it when I searched.

Ok, got the new motor and it's worse! The old motor just wouldn't park, this one generally will stop with the wipers all the way extended. Tried the ground recommendation, no change... did notice if the small ground wire on the motor was disconnected, the wiper wouldn't shut off Wink

Anyhow, warrantied out the motor (second one) and will get another at the end of the week. Reading about this governor though has me wondering... not sure where exactly this is or how folks are fixing it... any details please???

Well got the third replacement motor and it works "better" but not quite correctly. I can get the wipers to park depending on when I turn them off and the wipers will stop at the mostly fully extended position if I turn them off when the wipers are on the way up.

For now I'm leaving it as is (luckily is never rains much), just wanted to get the replacement motor and bring back the other "replacement" motor for a refund. Since it's a lifetime warranty and easy enough to order online, I'll do it again if needed. The problem most likely is elsewhere (governor or wiring)... tried grounding and swapped the wiper switch with no differences. I'll pickup a used governor and see what's inside and go from there.

I probably have the wiring manual somewhere but if anyone has the wiper wiring handy post it up here please...

Sorry to respond so late.

The governor is a small black box near the headlamp switch, just to the right. It should be mounted to that same piece of metal that goes across the bottom of the lower instrument panel.

You asked about where it was, don’t know if you ever got an answer.

Thanks, I ended up ordering an OEM one off ebay (under $40) for a 84-90 escort/lynx with the same part 17C476 number but different suffix (BA versus AA) that looked the same and appears to have the same connectors. I figured it's worth a shot and will see when it gets here. The wipers are parked now and no rain in sight so hopefully the replacement will work correctly. My understanding is you can also bypass the module and lose the intermittent function which is also an option.
