I resurected my car from my brother who left it sitting in the the sun for two years. The sun took its toll on the window tint and theres huge bubbles all over. I wanna keep the stock look as much as possible (sleeper) but I dont have the money to pay someone to do it (pennypincher) what do you all suggest? While im on the subject of car maintence, what do you all suggest for clearing up foggy headlights? I remember something about marine solution but thats it.

The headlights can be polished out with a buffer (on slow speed!) and somethin glike Meguairs #2 polishing liquid. Keep the ewheel moving or it will burn the plastic.
Don't know on the window tint.

you could always go to balmart,i mean walmart and get the tint there.its about $15 bucks to do both rear side windows or 1 rear window. very easy to apply instructions included. and guess what? napa has the same stuff only $10 BUCKS MORE.

If u don't have a buffer I bought 1500 grit wet sandpaper and my yellow is gone. Just keep applying water and keep sanding. Mine looks almost new. Also tried tinting my windows this w/e but ended up tearing it off the window because of the freakin small bubbles that kept creeping up along the sides...but I have no patience so maybe u'll do better.

Rent a steamer to remove the tint; comes off fairly easily that way.
I wouldn't try to do a tint job myself, the rear window is a real PITA to do right. Bite the bullet and take it to a pro. That way you'll get it done right -with- a warranty. Also, don't buy the cheap stuff - that's what bubbles up in a year or so. Get the best you can.

I just had my my rear, doors, and quarter window glass done for just under $200 by Ziebart. They were competitively priced and have been around a long time. It looks great but some things I noticed about the results if anyone is considering having it done:
1) The film did not suck up perfectly along the defrost lines so headlights from behind cause horizontal reflections or glare along the back.
2) In bright sun, strong reflections seem to appear as refracted light not white.
To make the job easier and therefore better, I would recommend prepping the car some. I planned to redo the deck carpet so I removed the plastic side panels and the rear deck so they could cover the glass more completely. Especially around the third brake light. What I didn't do was remove my door panels. The techs fold the rubber weatherstripping under so that they can tint as much door glass as possible. Can't blame them there. But when I let the film cure for the prescribed 3 days and unfolded the weatherstripping, it split badly on the ends. Now I need to locate new rubber!

well depending on how big the bubbles are, there's a simple trick i've learned from someone that does professional window tinting:
heat it up, make sure it's still "squeegable" ...mix water and "Johnson & Johnson baby oil (not too much, just so it's slick, works even better then soap mixture!) poke a hole or more if needed in with a needle, rub the mixture around so it gets it, and squeegie it back out.
there you go, the bubble fix.. not to many know about it =X
P.S. my TC has been out of commission for 4 months now, and needs money for inspection [Image: frown.gif]
if anyone in pa is looking to get their car professionaly detailed (that's me!) let me know, the shop is in the lansdale area. i need to raise some extra money some how to get my car goin again(stuck w/ a TEMPO).. let me know if anyone is interested, or you can just give me money for the hell of it [Image: smile.gif]

Did ford tint the rear window? I checked mine and theres no tint on the rear window. Ive got the dark tint on the quarter windows and side windows. Theres a huge frickin bubble running the length of the window right through the middle, But i think ill give your idea a try revamp, thanks
