This past sunday i was in the mood to do some work ont the 86 tc so i put in the 140 mph cluster which was really easy except for one of the harness connections, hard to get the tab up. Put in a new turn signal switch so i have low beams now. Checked the tranny fluid and started on my window. The window motor doensnt make a sound when i hit the switch. I tested for power at the motor and only get some when i try to move the window up. Tried it with 2 different switchs. Its hot here in California I need to get this fixed.

Your electrical test isnt clear... Did you pull the connetor off the motor and attach a test light to the 2 terminals? Did the light go on when the switch was in both up and down positions, or only with the switch in one position. If this is the case, then the switch is not working.

Have you tested the motor by jumping it to 12 V to see if it runs?

my fault for being unclear. I tested at the connector terminals with it off of the motor. The test light would only light up with the switch in one position. I have not jumped it but will do that when i get off work today. Looks like i pulled the wrong switch in the J/Y I will have to go back and grab a couple after i check the motor.

If the test light lights up in only one position and not the other, the problem is the switch for sure.

just wanted to clarify on the test light thing. having the test light ground to a common ground (bolt on door).

if you hit the switch up and have power on one wire. then when you hit the down switch the power should be on the other wire, just to clarify so cuz when i read it i didn't see if it was stated or not, and can be easily mistaken for the switch. so basically its ground and power one way, then and opposite with the switch in the other direction
didn't mean to offend anyone if i did, just didnt want a mistake to happen
