The PRC (programmed ride control) is complex system with several different sensors in several locations, in addition to the special Tokicko struts and shocks, unique to the 87-88 Tbirds and absolutely obsolete. The PRC computer has little to nothing to do with the ECU and certainly will not substitute for it, they are two different computers.

Why do you need a different computer?

It won't really run any better just by upgrading the PCM. Yes you can get a J3 chip or go with Quarterhorse which is a plus.

In order to use the later PCM's, you also need a large VAM and do some repinning and adding pins to the harness.
