my 86 XR7 has an aftermarket radio which I would like to replace with a Ford unit
I realize in 86 that he TOP option would've been some kind of cassette player
I wonder if I can get a later Ford in-dash CD player that will plug-n-play ... i.e. use the same Ford plug and fit correctly in the 86 dash

that type connector is used through 84-03 so you shouldnt have a problem connecting it but gettind a newer radio to fit in the dash

i was also thinking... y wouldnt you just keep the aftermarket one because it sounds better and puts out more power

I was going to go the same route, as I want to keep things looking stock. Ended up putting a kenwood in that I had laying round though.
