I am looking into tubbing my 87 TC. So I am looking into a bigger motor to put in my car. I was woundering if a 460 would fit. I know that I would have to get a new 5-speed. But what do you think. Thanks Robert

A 460 will fit into the bay, but I don't think it will bolt up to a T5 transmission w/o an adapter plate
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.

I have seen a 460 in an 88 Tbird. It fits but it is verrrry tight. Also I don't think you will get a T5 to hold up the the torque of the 460. A Top Loader 4 speed would be a better choice if you are going to stay with a manual trans.
On a side note, When I talked to the owner of the 460 Tbird he was not happy with the results. He had an automatic in his.
NO cornering power at all. Also even though his was tubbed and had a 4 link he still had a traction problem.
The car is super nose heavy even though he had aluminum heads. Great for the ohh and ahh factor but not that great to drive.
Sold my Turbocoupe. It went to a good home.

If you want a drag only car, drop in a 460. For daily driving it will suck. If you must dump the 2.3T, put in a SBF with aluminum heads... similar weight to the 2.3T, but be prepared to spend a lot more $$ on gas.
