I'm getting a complete Leather interior out of an 86 T-bird Turbo. Will all the parts fit into an 87-88. I know the seats & dash are not a problem, but what about the rest - Carpet, Door Panels, Rear Side Panels, Trim around the Pillars and Roof, Rear Deck Lid? Is there any difference in the seat patterns on a 86 vs 87-88?

Realistically both interiors are essentially the same and almost completely interchangable. You shouldn't have any trouble with your swap.

Here are the differences in the interior from an '85-'86 & an '87-'88

1. The tachometer guage on the '87-'88 has the added LED lights for the Auto-Ride and the Premium Fuel switches and the boost guage reads a little less.

2. The console was shortened on the '87-'88 cars

3. Power moonroof option finally became available in '87

4. The equalizer radio option finally became available in '87

5. Pivoting vent windows were discontinued in '87

6. Tampo printing on the ATC panel changed slightly for '87

7. In '87-'88 the front seats have a seat belt guide the the earlier cars did not have.

I have been told that the a-pillar trim is a little different on the '87-'88 cars but I have never compared them and I can't see why there would be a difference.

The eq was available in 85' according to the sales catalog. My son's 86' has the eq. The a-pillar trim is different. The older ones (85'/86') had metal trim above the doors. The trim around the 1/4 windows are different. Not all 87'/88's had the seat belt guide. The 87' TC we had didn't have them.

I'm not 100% sure but there might be an issue with the rear side panels. The 85/86 TCs have a shorter rear deck. The 87/88s have different rear glass then the 85/86. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Right, the rear deck (package tray) is different. I think the headliner may be different too.
As for the tach, the 86 boost gauge goes a bit higher, and the tach goes higher. I'd rather have that than that goofy little light. (I'm moving mine)

The scuff plates are also different. The main thing to look out for is that while the door panels look the same, the actual panel itself is different. The difference is at the top that interfaces near the glass. I tried putting '87-'88 panels in to an '86 once and had to modify the top of the panel to get it to fit. Grinding to the backside plastic helped but it did not fit perfectly. This was on some V6 style door panels, but I would expect the same issue w/ TC panels.

I dont think the front seats will fit. Especially if they are raven and black leather...so what you do is just ship them to me and I will take them off of your hands. haha...I wish.

I'm picking it up today......If it's not right or not gonna fit, I'll put it on the site for someone to buy. I'd hate to see it go to the junkyard and get ruined.

i think the center console is the same from 85-88. why would it be shorter? the car is layed out the same from 83-88. the carpet and door panels are the sme. the rear panels, deck lid, and pillars are a little different. it would be better to dye these parts or find them from an 83-86. the seats and patterns are the same from 85-88. the 83-84 have a slitly different back seat (head rest bump vs. no bump)

turbocoupe88, what parts are you looking for?
