I own a 2001 VW Jetta wagon, I bought it new. It drives great I think when I replace it it will be with another VW Jetta.

Hehe. I have heard that the MazdaSpeed's are some very quick cars Big Grin .

Thanks for all the advice, we will definatly be looking into the Mazda's and the Fusion.

Honda, Toyota, and VW are not and will not be cars of interest Big Grin .

Started the writing yesterday. Lost it. Computers suck.

Have a hard time wondering how so much rice is written about? For the wife?
This is a American FORD sight. I thought? Then again I was thinking? Daaaa. They are writing about buying a car for their wives.
Nothing against girls. They should be driving rice. Heavy on the peddle and heavy on the metal.

Ive driven a friends 05 mazda 3 and my parents 08 fusion. The mazda feels underpowered compared to the fusion, but handling is fantastic. The fusion is a little bit bigger with more leg room in the back and a larger boot.

If it helps you any, the fusion just won car of the year and is in competition of knocking the camery out of the #1 car position.

Im happier in the fusion. I feel safer, i have more room to move, and i know i have enough grunt under the hood if I need it to get out of a situation.

Mazda with the 4cyl gets about 30mpg highway
Fusion with v-6 gets 28mpg highway.
Real world, personally calculated with trips.

I like the sound of a V6 AWD Fusion, if there's bad winters where you live the AWD would be a godsend for most woman drivers...

I have a friend with a Mazda 3 and they are nice peppy little cars. The Mazdaspeeds are definately the way to go for a sportier ride, I guess depends on your wife's taste.

For clarification, it was the Fusion hybrid that won car of the year. Oh and more clarification for those that may not know, last I checked Ford owns 2/3rds of Mazda :-)

Ford has reduced their ownership interest to about 20% currently, I believe.

And the MazdaSpeeds are a fantastic line.
My wife's car is the MazdaSpeed Protege, and it is the best handling vehicle I have EVER driven, better than most go-karts. Really, really well put together car.

Since they replaced the Protege with the 3, I'd get the 'Speed3 in a heartbeat if we were in a position to do so.

And for the record, are we allowed to say "boot" this side of the pond? heheh.

Timmay, Don't know what a R34 is but you are probably right.
As for rice, I am not sure? I do know I see it on this sight alot. For sure it was not built in this country with American made parts.
As for the first time I heard something referred to as rice. A Long time ago my son and my Uncles children were into dirt bikes. Dirt bikes were fine with me. One day I heard them referred to as Pocket Rockets. Did not under stand until I got my big *** on one of these Pocket Rocket. Nailed it. Bike came out from between my legs, flew in the air and landed on the handle bars bending them to XXXX, I was laying flat faced in the mud. I thought my Nephews and Uncle were going to pee their pants they were laughing so hard. Only one that was not laughing was my son. Dad, what did you do to my bike? A hundred bucks later and alot of work he was back in the saddle.
Now for the -- What is rice? Please correct me if I am wrong? Toward the end of this saga when dirt bikes turned into wheels ( cars with big engines.) I heard the big dirt bikes (500cc) called Rice Rockets. Also the street bikes with 750cc plus called the same. If you could not get the front wheel of a bike off the ground? It was not a Rice Rocket. Probably why I have always owned rice, Not a Harley

For the pure in heart but short on brains. A bike is dangerous. A Rice Rocket is pure nuts.
I am still here. Gave them up about 12 years ago because I felt my reflexes were not what they used to be. Use your own discretion. Wish you a safe ride.
