Whiring sound....

Just put my new to me T5 in the car, and finally got to starting up the car since Ive been busy with geting the front mount/piping done. Start it up, instant whirring noise, increases with increased rpms. In neutral and foot off clutch pedal. Push in clutch, whirring noise slows down, then stops completly. Let clutch pedal back out, noise instantly comes back. Input shaft bearing? I put this trans in because mine was leaking at the tailshaft to case surface plus a little difficult once in a while to get in reverse. So, I took that one apart to the point of removing the input shaft, and removed it. Actually not all that hard! Going to check over it, reseal everything nice, clean it up and save it for my 84 GT Turbo. Now I know how to get it apart, plus I got a big shop manual for 79-86 Mustangs, so it has the entire teardown and re-assemble for the T5 in it.

I noticed when i got the input shaft out there is the bearing thats pressed onto the shaft itself, with its race in the throw out bearing nose, and then at the end of it on the inside of where the syncro is, there is 9 roller bearings.

So it can only be those two things correct?

ok so I took the t5 with the noise apart. Found that the nose on the main gear shaft where it goes into the back of the input shaft and the roller bearing ride on is all gouges/rough and scratched, same as abou half of the roller bearings....I was sold a bum steer. The main shaft needs replaced now. Im going to clean up the t5 I took out seal it up and back in the tc it goes...wow Anyone ever replace the main gear shaft? Looks like all the ofther gears and such are in good shape.
