I just installed the engine. I have a big valve head,t3/t4 hybrid 50trim, 3" down pipe, afpr, and factory pump for now. Just wandering whether I should start at the factory setting.

I'd start at around 42 base to be safe. I have mine at 41 running 18 PSI on the stock IHI. You REALLY need to get a better pump in there before you do any high boost. (unless you like replacing head gaskets, pistons, valves, etc.)

I am planning to replace the pump after the engine is broke in and the tank is empty.

Thanks for the help.

I'd recommend limiting boost also until the pump upgrade is in place and you get a few hundred miles on the engine.

That was my plan. I can use the factory pump as an excuse to keep my foot out of the throttle until a few hundred miles.

Turn the boost down to 7-8 lbs until you change the fuel pump. Its far too easy to mash the pedal while doing some spirted driving on a nice sunny day.

Make sure after a few hundred miles you rev it to about 3500 or 4K and then let off the gas and create some vacuum to set the rings.

Racing since I was five doesnt help the right foot stay off the gas pedal. That is why on thursday I will have the boost turned way back. I cant wait to romp on it though, but I want to make sure everything is right first.

Thanks everyone for the assistance.
