Do you have EATC or manual HVAC controls? The evap cores are different for EATC vs. manual.

88 Turbo Coupe: Intake and exhaust mods, T3 turbo at 24 psi, forced air IC, water injection, BPV, Ranger cam, subframes, etc., etc.
86 Tbird 5.0 (original owner): intake, exhaust, valvetrain mods, 100 HP N2O, ignition, gears, suspension, etc., etc.

The auto climate one is different. If you can't find one for a lincoln mark 7, your only option is a JY source. Also the fittings seemed to change around 85/86 from a traditional screw together fitting to Ford's " not so" quick disconnect fittings

parts catalog shows 87-88 to be the same regardless of eatc or not, maybe the older birds are different.

They are not the same. The book is wrong. I tried fitting a non auto climate control evaporator in the box and it won't fit.
1988 turbo tbird, 5spd, 140k, all stock except boost control valve.

Good news for those who need an evaporator core. Use 1987-1988 Mercury Cougar RS (3.8L V6) one. $70.47 for part. With tax and shipping and handling to Texas, my total was $88.28. And it fit PERFECTLY!!! Go figure! Evaporator Core Part#14407 at
