what is the widest wheel/tire that will fit under the rear of my 87 turbocoupe with little or no modification?

i'm not positive myself, but if you don't get much feed back, try the local tire shops and ask them that same question and they could most likely answer that for ya. keep in mind that the suspension will play a role in how high the tire can be, ..the worse your suspension, the closer it is to the tire. Please let me know this when you find out, cause i am sorta curious myself now that you asked that.

88 TC ....Custom window tint, American Racing 15" rims with Michelin X-radial tires 215-70-r15, 9mm Ford Racing Spark-plug wires, K&N air filter, 3 core radiator, 180* Thermostat, Head completely rebuilt with an upgrade to a roller-cam, Silvannia Silverstar Bulbs for headlights, Painted wiper blades, XM Radio, Custom system with a custom built 5 cu. ft. box(2 and 1/2 cu. ft. per sub.), Custom Alarm System. I have 15X8(5.5" BS) Weld Draglites with 26X11.5 Et Streets. I will be gewtting 15X10's at some point and will be going bigger with the rear tires.

I have 17x9's on the rear of my 88 with 275/40/17's on itand only had to roll the inner lip of the wheel opening,of course mine is lowered I would sau atleast an inch also.Only when I have a lot of weight (kids) in the back and bottom out at high speed does it ever rub,and even then just a little bit.

Hybridbird, any chance you could post pictures of your car? i'm considering going with very much the same setup as you described and i'd like to see how yours looks.
