Hi, I have TRW rims (I think)  see link:

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/06/01/3c/...38710f.jpg

What type of product should I use to polish them?  I don't think they are painted like the Snowflakes.

Thank you!

Are you looking to strip the clearcoat and polish the aluminum, or just clean the clear coat as good as you can? Two different methods and products to use for either one.

I have no idea if there is clearcoat on it.  I'm new to the that type of rim from the factory.

I pick up the car on 3/9 and from the the inspection of the mechanic I hired, he said everything looked as new (garage kept for 38 years).  if the car is as nice as I hope, just polish and not remove the clear coat.  BTW, I'll be at Carlisle....It'll be great to meet.   Thanks again.

Stock wheels have a clear coat applied over the aluminum for protection. I would not strip the clear coat off of the wheels, give them a good cleaning with a quality wheel cleaner, I usually use a meguiars wheel cleaner and a toilet cleaning brush to scrub the wheels clean. The round brush gets into the slots and fins better for me. If you have any really stubborn brake dust stains or such, use a dish cleaning scrub sponge, the type with a sponge on one side but the other is a scrub pad. Do this on a regular basis and they will stay in good shape. Get us some pics of the car when you get it next week.

That sounds about right.  Nothing too rough on them.   Perfect.   Attached two pics from the listing.  BTW, I got Hagerty's insurance on her.  Full coverage for $236 a year with 10k valuation.  I don't want to be caught without it after reading about that TC that caught fire.  Really sad news on that.

That is a nice looking Cougar, I always liked the unique style of these cars and those are factory wheels on that as well. They are called "TRX" wheels and use a specific metric sized 390mm tire, not sure if you can get them anymore either. These are clear coated from the factory and the Cougar wheels are kind of rare compared to the Mustang / Capri TRX wheels. Check this website out for lots of info on the older Cougars, https://www.coolcats.net/restoring/wheels.html , Congrats on a very nice ride!

Thank you!  I think it is too!  Thankfully, the owner put on a new set of tires before his passing, and the tires have 90% tread on them.  It'll give me some time to figure out an alternative if needed.

Thanks for the link!

I found a way to attach a pic to an older thread.
Here is what I've done so far.

One of the things I like best about my coverage with Hagerty (and I’m guessing it’s the same for everyone) is that I can choose to have a shop do the repair work if there’s damage (and I can choose what parts to use), OR I can do it myself and Hagerty will pay ME.

As someone who only takes the car to the shop for something like a wheel alignment (which I obviously can’t do), I really like this option. With anything that’s more than a few years old you might have some trouble finding someone who knows our cars, and I don’t trust much of what is published these days regarding repairs on an older vehicle.

BTW that is a very nice find! Congratulations!
Another proud dues-paying member.

1987 Turbo Coupe w/T5OD, 8.8 axle, grey smoke; most options. Got it in 1991 with 41K miles: 3 turbos, 2 heater cores, 3 T5OD full rebuilds, 6 clutches, 1 head gasket, 2 Teves II ABS units, etc. later....

Thank you for the good wishes!   I'm excited to get a few things fixed (no car is completely free of things needing to be done) and get her out and about!
