Wheel Fitment

I did a search on this, and seem to be more confused than when I started [Image: smile.gif]

I'm looking at a set of used 16" x 8" wheels. These where listed as fitting 79-93 Mustang's. The backspace on these wheels are 4.5 for two, and 4.75 for the other two.

From the search, it seems that 5.5 is the preferred fit for a 8" wheel, and lots of references to this being the same as a Mustang. So my questions are how would these fit, and what wheel would go on which end of the car?

Any input appreciated.

I'd put the 4.75 on the front, and the 4.5 on the back. Reason being, the fender lip on the rear makes it look like the wheels are tucked in towards the pumpkin if they're really even front to back...

The shallower backspace on the rears will make them appear more even from most angles, and make the rear look wider.

Thanks for the reply.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm sure the rears would be fine (plenty of room), but I'm a little concerned about the fronts sticking out a little with that backspacing.

I may pass on these wheels?

Unless you're set on keeping a 16 incher, or you can get them REALLY CHEAP, I'd pass.

There are plenty of affordable 17x9s out there that come with better looks and handling to boot.
