What engine do I have?

I just got an 83 TC and the engine has an 87-88 upper, lower, valve cover, brown top injectors and an E6 manifold. So my question is, were these added to the 83 engine or is the whole engine an 87-88? Where can I find the casting numbers/dates to tell for sure? Also how can I tell if it's got the large vam or small?

What style of intake manifold? If it's the 87/88 style then it probably has an 87/88 head on it. Not sure the bottom end would even matter which year it came from... Also, you can measure the diameter of the VAM on the intake side. I forget which is which size, but the big VAM is closer to 3" I think.

Question: what are you worried about? My 84 TC had a Ford rebuilt ~86 engine in it when I bought it (Ford pistons and bored .020 over), didn't realize that for my first couple years of ownership haha. I'm assuming the original owner blew up the first engine and paid out the a$$ to have Ford put in a new one.
Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Bright Canyon Red TuTone, Desert Tan Interior; 1 of 7 in this combo in 1984 according to Marti.  1 of 13,361 TCs in 84.

I never said I was worried. After I saw the brown top injectors, I just started wondering what else the previous owner swapped. Did he also swap the VAM? Did he also swap the EEC? I'll have to wait till the 3 feet of snow melts off it to start digging around and find the computer. Maybe if I get bored, I'll clear off the hood and measure the vam opening.
Thanx guys.

I would just remove the computer from the kick panel. These cars will run with wrong computer and wires hooked up. Who knows what the previous owner did.

The opening on the small vam are 2.75" vs 3.00". Hope that helps you.
