I finally got started on my Foglight relays. Started yesterday morning and had them all installed in about 2 hours time. While the battery tray was out, I also cleaned the frame rail and cleaned, sanded and electric greased the grounds on the front radiator support. I have not been using my fog lights for fear of melting my headlight switch, so this was a welcome mod. Next up is the headlight relays.

Great idea and well advised.

Hello im new to the 2.3t motor but i do know about them i picked up a 88tbtc auto trans did the 5 speed swap put a boost controller in and removed the factory air box and put an aftermarkert cone filter. The car runs and boost ok i think till 3rd gear then while in boost at 14--15 Psi the car seems to not pull or the boost starts to cut in and out but will still gain rpm and 4-5 gear it will boost the sometimes just just complettely off. Today i was testing it and in 3-4 gear it started to fall off then made a knocked sound getting on freeway in boost in 4 th gear i put im 5th and it stopped im completly puzzeld on whats goong on and advise i know these cars with move and keep up with stock 5.0 if not beat one but mine just seem off

Measure fuel pressure under boost. Should climb 1 psi above the base pressure of 39 psi (stock regulated fuel pressure). If it doesnt increase 1:1 with boost, either pump is failing, plugged fuel filter, filter sock in tank plugged with rust from the inside of the tank, etc.

Have you checked the plugs, cap and plug wires? Checked gap? Around .032" is typically good. The only plugs that work are the stock copper motorcraft plugs or NGK 2238 / TR5. If it has platinum plugs it will run like crap.

Assuming you have the stock IC, check to be sure there are no rips, splits, etc in either of the hoses and that the hose clamps are tight. Check for vacuum / pressure leaks at the vacuum tree also.

Run the complete code test (KOEO, CM, KOER) even if the CEL isnt on.

Neckn9ne,
I agree with Jeff, a good complete tune up will be your first step. Everything he mentioned is a perfect start. I had one years ago that had a bad intercooler connection hose, it ran great at low to no boost, but once up to 15, it would blow air out the hose and start running super rich. Black smoke would pour out the exhaust and it would stumble. You should start here with the "Tech Articles" section, lots of great info and post your findings in the general discussion section so we can help you along. We're here to help.

I finally got my headlight relays installed over the weekend, the only issue I had was with the 5 pin relays for the hi-beams. The instructions on the site here mention to find the spot in the harness where it splits to each headlight and wire in pin 87 and 87A. Hooked it all up like that, tried them out and found that my pass side light was always on. I double checked everything, it was all hooked up according to the instructions. Turned out to be my 5 pin relays had pin 87A was a normally on pin. Basically had to join the two separate high beam wires to pin 87, once that was done, it worked fine. So, I'm not sure if normal 5 pin relays have a set up like that for pins 87 and 87A, but I figured it out, and it works great.
