i recently picked up my turbo coupe.. its a 86. the guy says he swapped out the rear for a mustang rear and cut the front coils or heated them up or something because the nose of the car almost sits on the pavement. I was wondering if 4 cyl mustangs or any other car sharred the same coils?

Tons of info to be had on the subject in past posts. Use the search feature and search for coil springs, springs, etc. and your questions will be answered.

I think the guy that did the rear swap does know anything about these cars. Look in the tech links and you will see the 5 spd has 3:55 poss and the auto trans has 3:73 gears. Swapping with a mustang juz gave you the same or maybe a 3:23 gear.

As far as the springs go find you a t-bird or a couger in the junkyard amd pull the springs.

They will fit

I don't think it will mater. When you get to the bone yard see if the have a cross ref. They will tell you the years and motor sizes that will fit.

The thing about the ford company is every on of there cars man has week rear springs. The v8 stangs are the only ones I have seen that doesn't have this probke. Will you haveing a stang rearend and a couger they should be the same.

My 88 tc is all stock in the rear and when in shoft modle it sits a little low but in firm it higher it is nice when this works on the car lol

??? How can that be? Shocks, either "regular" type or PRC, have NOTHING to do with ride height.

I hate it when younins , post incomplete , and or false information.
there were no 8.8 rears in pre 87 model thunder birds or cougars.
The 3:73 /3:55 gears were in the 87-88 automatic/manual cars.
Furthermore , these items have nothing to do with the ride height of this guys car .

What im saying is that i belive my coils are cut and i would like to be at stock height. I was wondering what coils are the best to use?
btw i am not saying the 8.8 in my car is stock... havent even looked into it yet just going off of what the seller told me this car has deffinatly been tampered with.
btw i think the gears are wrong too way too tall.

Ok Dan Crogan said he had a 8.8 in the car from a swap the owner befor him did. That is what I was going off of. Juz cause I'm new to the site and don't know much about the tcs doesn't mean I don't know shit. When I did my last post I was half out of it due to being sick.

You are rite I don't know what was in the per 87 tc or cougers. I do know that the 79 to 93 stangs had an 8.8 in them.

Asfar as my tc when the prc is in soft/auto the rear of the car sits lower then if it is in firm. For those of you that think the prc has nothing to do with ride height try turning your to auto and see what happen. The prc keeps the car sitting up.

You guys can say what you want to but you all don't know everything there is to know and just because your a full boost poster juz mean you like to see you name on a message borad.

You don't like what I said don't reply

Mustangs did not get an 8.8 until 86 , so I guess since you know so much , you don't need our help .
Secondly , only the springs will determine ride height , you have some eye site problems , and should see a doctor .
