What a wonderful week.....(Long)

In a nutshell, here's how my week has gone so far....

I was on my way to a friends house to fix some interior parts when A truck dumped something hard out of the back end... i Tried to swerve, but i caught it on the drivers side tire...at 70 MPH. The tire blew straight across the tread, and my snowflake is cracked most of the way across. So I figure, well, at least I didnt dump the mini spare last week....Until I start driving on that and it blows as well.... So .

I drive two miles down the interstate on a blown mini spare... call the junk yards and nobody has wheels for my TC... Dammit. I was stuck for two days about 70 miles from home until I found a set of wheels at a yard that said they didnt have them. They were off of a 87 TC....the problem is that they are 14" wheels. They are some kind of aftermarket....they remind me of Welds. Anyways luckily for my pocketbook, all four tires still held air, but are pretty much shot (Dry rotted, bad tread, soft sidewalls) But i'm having them replaced tomarow. Now the Questions. Are there any major problems I should look out for (Driveability) with the smaller wheels? They are on the car now, but my car feels like I'm driving on underinflted tires....it shimmeys when i move the wheel back and forth at speed. Could that just be because the tires are junk?? I Know my speedo will read fast by about 7% (60MPH on the speedo, about 54MPH actual speed) Anything else I should watch out for??

I was under the impression that 14's wouldnt clear the calipers..?? Make sure you use all 4, other wise you *may* find problems in the ABS. Other than that, and less ground clearance, I dont know of any other problems. Of course I dont know everything either...

My 15" draglites rub the bolts on the caliper.

Yup. They actually came off a junked TC in the boneyard....No rubbing, absolutely no problems so far. They are not hub-centric, however thats not a problem if you torque them while off the ground. They are shod in some ratty-looking Uniroyle (Spelling) Tigerpaw GTS tires, size is 195-70/14 I Had also read on Eric's site that 14" wheels are too small for our cars...no change in calipers or rotors from stock. Mabey i ust got luckey! heheh
