due to a bad 3-4 shift that ended up a 3-2 shift I threw 3 rockers and one is broken in half. Before i knew this. I saw I had a broken timing belt, after replacing that setting time, and doing a compression test for good measure(came out 120-130 across all cyls.) I still had no start
then pulled the valve cover to discover this. My main questino is if I had bent something int he head, I wouldnt have good compression would I? Is it safe to throw in my new lifters/followers and go on if my compression was good?
thanks,
tc in pieces
Derek

Which rockers came off, intake or exhaust or some of each. If it was intakes, how did you get 120-130 compression on those cylinders?

What did the tach read when you let out the clutch? Inquiring minds want to know [Image: biggrin.gif]

Install the new parts and then turn the engine over SLOWLY, BY HAND. Look for any sign of binding as the affected valves open and close. If you bent anything, it would be the upper end of the valve, what you see with the valve cover off. You would not have bent the valve head end, on a piston, because these are non-interference motors unless you are running a really big cam.

the tach was well pegged I'd say 7.5k ish, I kinda panicked and didnt get a good look as I was passing a slow moving semi on a country road with oncoming traffic, and it was 3 exhaust not intake.

Check to make sure the valve cover is flat. If th eproblem is at the cam tower, make sure the gasket is laying on the cam tower in the proper postion then drop the VC straight down over it

How is your PCV valve? The valve cover gasket on my XR7 would blow outward before I replaced a bad PCV valve.

Hope this helps.
