I'm pretty much assuming the new EGR is going back in the mail. The one on there passes air pretty easy when I suck on the port for the intake so I bought a new one. The new Motorcraft one also passes air fairly easily out of the box.
The obvious miss is still there at idle as well as the low load cruise miss and slight stumble at tip in until boost starts; though I tried gapping the plugs at a loose .034 since I have the blaster coil. No change, and the plugs were very clean, no nothing left when wiped on a clean white rag but had a slight bluish tint. No white speckles and MAYBE a whisp of brown barely (I really had to look) noticable. I've gone 100 miles on a bit less than a 1/4 tank.
I've also noticed the vacuum will sit at 19" after pulling in the driveway hot from the drive home. If I goose it, it settles at 20. A hard deceleration at 3k it only goes to 24" I've never seen higer vacuum than that. It also seems to miss more as it warms up. Stone cold, the first minute or 2 it's not too bad. It idles a bit before halfway to 1500rpm when first started.
I'm taking it in tomorrow for a smoke vacuum leak test and am going to have them poke a hole in the pipe before the cat to get a/f and hc readings.
The EGR should be sealing pretty tight so it doesn't leak when closed, right? How does my cold idle, vacuum and plugs compare to your car or sound to you? Any wild thoughts?

try disconnecting the fuel pressure regulator...plug the vacuum line and go for a ride...see if it makes a difference...if it doesn't then you may have an electrical problem...(switches,sensors and such)if it does still could be a "lieing sensor" but you'll know its lean and then the diag changes...try disconnecting the EGR in the same manor and tell us the results...

Thanks man. FPR is a 1+ month old Kirban. I'll see if it changes without vac reference. Since I have to wait for a replacement egr, I'll try to block it off with some sheet metal between the egr and intake to see what that does. I've removed/plugged the egr vacuum line with no change.

Garry, it did what it was supposed to with the fpr vac removed, lean and all that, but still ran generally the same. The shop was down a man today so we are going to try tomorrow for the smoke test. I bumped up the fp to 42lbs, no change. I'm really leaning on a vacuum leak of some sort, but I'm willing to try anything in the mean time.

Oh yeah, if anyone else has an MSD blaster that made the buzz under the dash when you put it in, I noticed I could hear it standing over a running engine, I tried to pinpoint it and it was really loud when I put my ear on the prc strut switch and on the coil cover. Huh.
