Weird problem with headlights. Not the switch.

The low beams are very dim and they keep burning out. The high beams work fine. I checked the grounds on the core support on both sides and they looked fine. Any ideas or trouble shooting ideas would be much appreciated.

Dim bulbs should last longer than bright bulbs, since the dim filament is running at a lower temp. Are you touching the bulbs during the install? Is there any water in the headlight housings? Either of these will kill a Halogen bulb in short order.

A volt drop test will tell you why the lights are dim and where the problem is.

The multifunction switch is new, the bulbs were installed clean, and the housings are moisture free. I guess I'll break out the multimeter and see what I can figure out.

After replacing the cheap sylvanias with some hella bulbs and a re aim the headlights are good again. That and I think I'm just used to the headlights on my 2010 Ranger.

What i did on 2 of my non stock birds , was took out the fog lights and put in the same spot and fit just great ,,, a pair of PIAA driving lights. But also had to run them off their own switch-relay that does come with the lights, just at 200 bucks a pair,, but they light up the road . Try it , you will not be sorry .

or just buy a new set of headlights if you want to keep the stock fog lights, either set will be 200 bucks ..
