well, I started taking my taillights out to reseal them, so i started to take out the donut tire only to find that the trunk was full of water. So then expecting the worst (just my luck) I pulled the peices off the right side and found the right side full of water.

Check your trunk seals. Might want to create a couple drain holes. BTDT

You have just earned the right to join the hide-in-the-trunk-with-a-flashlight club.
As there are several seams, in addition to the taillights and the trunk seal where water can get in.
I had resealed the taillights, and then found that the rubber between the taillight and the car wasnt making contact due to slight bends in the very light guage steel. (this one you can do without being in the trunk....)
You can figure most things out with running a hose over one area at a time, and looking for the drips, (removing all of the interior panels)
I had the seams at the rear window opened up, as the caulk was cracked open. (also tailights) Took several attempts to fix all of the holes/seams/gaskets
good luck
oh, and the only thing that did work was the trunk gasket.... go figure (and its the only part I got to repair the leak orginally)

I suffered a leaking trunk back when the car was brand new! I was unaware of it and had no idea how long it was leaking when I found it. Wouldn't have cought it except for when I pulled the rubber floor mat out of the trunk to vacuum. That's when I found all the mold! Took her back to Ford (only 6 months old) and let them find the leak. Was leaking around the license plate area. They fixed the leak, and replaced the moldy carpet all under warranty. Bone dry ever since.

Remove the interior trim around your tail lights and turn the hose on low without a nozzle attached. Lean into the trunk and see if either tail light is leaking. It might take a little while for the water to show up.
Make sure weatherstrip isn't ripped at the trunk opening.
