Haws, Sorry for the cryptic answer. Yes my comment was in reference to the Auto trans. If you can stomach the idea that the A4LD will fail, go for it since the rest of the car sounds really good.

One of the options I don’t have is driver’s seat memory. As for the rear defroster, mine doesn’t work any more after the full tinting I had done last year on all the windows. Because of the heat (I guess at least partly) we have full glass coverage here in AZ. My tinting was badly faded, so the insurance company worked on getting my glass retinted, but the only new rear window with the rear defroster they could find was in Denver, and the company refused to ship it here. (Easier to get a new one and then have it tinted out of the car.) So I used the garbage-bag-and-Windex option and got the tinting off—well most of it. In the end, some of the delicate tracings for the defroster grid came off too. I tried the repair option but there was too many breaks. In the end I got it re-tinted okay, but I lost that option.

Of course, one could argue that since it doesn’t snow here, do I really need it? Well, in the mountains in the northern part of the state it does, and that’s where I have mostly used it. But no more.
Another proud dues-paying member.

1987 Turbo Coupe w/T5OD, 8.8 axle, grey smoke; most options. Got it in 1991 with 41K miles: 3 turbos, 2 heater cores, 3 T5OD full rebuilds, 6 clutches, 1 head gasket, 2 Teves II ABS units, etc. later....
