First post.. I've been stalking these boards for a while and I finally registered/joined.. Sent my dues in so Pete, Jeff and Glen can have a beer on me when they get my money order Smile

Brief background.. I ordered an 1987 Turbo 2 months before it became Motor Trends car of the year and fell in love with it until I wrapped it around a light pole in 92' avoiding the local deer population..

Been on a hunt for another one for the last 4 years and finally came up with an '88 out of South Carolina.. Hopefully being shipped down here soon! Will post pics, etc... when it gets here.. This forum has a wealth of knowledge on it and wanted to thank all involved for keeping it up! I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions..

Rob, welcome. I feel for you. I didn't order mine, bought it off the showroom floor in Aug '87. I know how I'd feel if I lost mine.

But now we have three - my original, now relegated to the elevated status of fun weekend street car/custom/show car, my 88 daily driver, and my daughters 87 - I had to get it for her or she'd have taken away my cherished 87 - it was self defense!

There's a great group of guys here and you'll find plenty of technical expertise. Again, welcome and enjoy!

Hey Rob,

Welcome to the site. You will not only find a wealth of knowledge here, but a group of guys and gals that will become like family. I just got my buddies 88 bird running last night and we decided to take it for a test run. Long story short we ended up 70' out in a field just missing a telephone pole. Somehow we went through the ditch sideways and out into the field and managed to miss the pole and not flip the car. Wow scary moments. It was all do to some drifting snow on the road and because of an oncoming car (at 9:30p.m.) we could not see the snow/ice until we were up to about 40mph and in 3rd gear. Needless to say the turbo boosted, posi traction, snow/ice: yea bad combination. But all is good and we pulled it out and drove it home. Once again welcome to the site and I look forward to seeing some pics.

Thanks for all the welcomes.. even got one from the "almighty" himself Smile Pete! LOL.. like I said.. I been trolling the boards for a while and Pete seems to be a "major presence" on the boards.. Guess it's kinda like being interviewed and finding Peter Jennings or Ted Koppel at your door.. Smile Anyway.. I'll be a sponge on the board but I hope to be able to contribute anything I can..

The one thing I do pride myself on is that I'll complete a thread.. My biggest pet peave is for a troubleshooting thread to continue up until the end.. and then no reply on whether the advice given actually worked.. It drives me insane to see all the posts with open ended resolutions!

Anyway.. thanks again all for the warm welcomes!
Now if I can just get the dam trucking company to get my car here... I'm chewing on a compression tester waiting for it....

Welcome Rob. My story is the same as yours except I sold the car in '96 after my first daughter was born. You wil find that this site is the ultimate TC site. Post picks when your replacement comes home.
