I finally opened her up all the way today! The hiway was pretty bare today except for some butt hole that tried to pass in the median, and wasnt going to let them throw rocks all over my car so I shifted down and 4th floored it, I could see they were still on it so I just kept on it all the way through 5th, the car pretty much maxed at 5800 rpm, It stayed there for a few seconds then surged to rev limiter! I think the clutch decided to slip Well any ways the guy was way back there, actually he was so far back I couldnt see him over the hill so I let off.

Crap I never had the nerve to take that car that fast, but the ol TC had it in her It rocked!

So, does the speedo just stop at the "back side" of zero. [Image: biggrin.gif] I don't have the tires to "go there" yet. These Bridgestones are to worn. I got 2 new Yokohamas' this week and the other 2 in the next week or so, then i'll give it a shot. Idea - maybe I'll get my buddy and his radar gun.... [Image: biggrin.gif]

Dude! Took your gear ratio, RPM, Tire Size, and guessed at your overdrive gear (something around .80?)

You were running about 165 Mph at 5850 Rpm in 5th. Geez... I'm impressed!

I have also taken my car that high. luckily I have some Z rated tires. I was very surprised when traveling that speed that the car was very smooth and stable. It was much different from when I maxed out an escort gt at 112, Scared the crap out of me, the entire car was shakin and rattlin. The Tbird was so much differnt. smooth as silk!

What calc did you use? mine comes out at 157
3.45 .79 24.8 5800 = 157.8

i am sure the clutch was slipping at that RPM. But I did find out tonight that my car is about as fast as my friends 01 Camaro! With both of us toped out for about 10 seconds, I pulled 3 feet on him. so I figure it will do barely over 150!
Man I wish it would do 165! that would rock!

There some days I just hate living in New Jersey!!!!! by the time I would get around enough traffic to even open it up that much I'd be in another state. I'm happy when I peg the 95 speedo on the interstste. Damn I miss the Autobahn's. Sounds like you had alot of fun, I'm jealous.

Sweet, I love high speeds!!!!!! Just be careful, Thats how I rote off my blue tc. A guy locked em up infront of me, I was doing 200KMH tried to move around him but lost it. I hit him,the gard rail, and the ditch!! what a ride!!! Glad to be alive I owe my life to that car, still have it but cant fix it!!! I use it as a personal parts car to fix up my new tc... But it is not the same as my old T.C. I even named my company after that car!!! Don't make the same mistake that I made!!!
