I still can't figure out why my car shakes like crazy. Its something in driveline, I dont know if my shaft is out of shape or what. but at high speeds it shakes a real lot. Also could it be something in my tranny or gears?

how about the tires. one or more could be out of balance.

Have you ever had the driveshaft off ? Maybe it's off 180 degrees or one of the balance weights on it fell off.

When I first got my 86, the rear end was so worn that the limited slip didn't limit the slip at all, and the car vibrated a lot as speed increased. I swiched out fluid and wheel bearings to no avail. Finally, I switched to an 8.8 out of an '87, and the vibration went away, and it doesn't slip as much. The current rear could use a new clutch pack, as well as a few other things, but I am going to wait until I get new tires for that.

Anyway, I haven't heard of an 8.8 rear being worn to the point of vibrating, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible, especially if you are having problems with your limited slip.

There was also vibration from a loose driveshaft when I got the car, but a few minutes under the car with a 12mm 12point box end wrench fixed that problem.

I have also had vibration problems with a different car when water got in a wheel from an air compressor.

Hope this helps.

Hey Dan, what do you mean by that? "It could be off by 180 degrees." Do you mean if you take it off, you have to put it exactly how it came off? Like the way the bolt holes came off, have to go back up? When I took the driveshaft out to do a clutch, I never knew it had to go back up the same way...

I had the same vibration thing going on from the bolts going to the rear end being loose. Tightened them up and all was well. Put a little thread lock on them while you are under there so it doesn't happen again.

Yep...supposedly it's supposed to go back on the same way.
