just wondering...

i have cold air coming out of a 2" wide "vent" in the black trim just above the equalizer.

what is this, is it supposed to be there? the hole the air is coming out of is centered and seems factory. is it to cool the eq?

That may be where the original clock went.

Are you talking the square thing inbetween the two tall heater vents? If so, that is where the factory clock was installed. That is not the factory clock in the picture, it has been replaced with a trip computer.

hey Pete, thanks for the reply but I should have been more specific. I have the factory clock (looking for a trip minder though!). the "vent" is under the clock in the black plastic trim bezel around the radio, eq, ac, etc. it's the black bezel surrounding the stainless steel looking face plate. The 2" x 1/2" hole is on the bottom surface of the top bar.

i.e. grab the black bezel under the clock with your finger and thumb (one on top and one on bottom of the trim) and the bottom surface should be a hole. It's like a small vent to blow on the face of the EQ. I know a picture would help, but I'm in a different city than the car. to see the vent you'd have to look up from the shifter.

The one you have looks like it came that way factory

My old TC never had that hole but I didn't have the EQ stock Sad

I see the circled area. The hole you describe is not stock. It must have been cut by a PO for some purpose but it is not factory.

no, sorry again, not the place to put tapes, etc. that is also not my car, it is one that Pete put up, I'm just trying to show where the hole is. you know how that black trim piece is 3-D? the bottom surface of just that black trim piece has a hole cut in it. again, not the utility tray or whatever you might call it because that is where the equalizer is in the TC

that hole is blowing out air only when the blower fan is on, but it is blowing out cold air when the vents are blowing out hot air to get the cabin up to the set 75 degrees. how can the blower blow both hot and cold air and why is there a factory feeling hole there (no burrs, symmetrical, etc).

Does it only blow air out of that hole when the blower motor is on or also when driving around

Have you ever taken the center dash cover off and felt were the cold air is coming from, it could be cold because theres more space to heat up compaired to the small duckings but I'm no H'vac man Sad
