What kind of trouble have you had with it? In general, they are quite trouble free.
The VAM isnt much of a restriction at the 300 HP level, and converting to a hot wire mass air system will be a major hassle.
If you go well over 300 HP, you will need larger injectors, which will require a EEC tuner, stand alone FI system, etc. If you go to one of those systems, the hot wire MA system might be worth the hassle, or just go with a speed density aftermarket FI system, and eliminate the air meter entirely.
