when i put my valve cover back on, i used a felpro gasket from advance that was cork.. and used indian head gasket compound to hold it on, it was a mess, but came out clean. did i commit a sin? hehe i know the nice looking rubber one that came off sure looked easier and nicer.. Why didn't you reuse the rubber one? I've had mine on and off many times

Cork gaskets will leak, and right on top of your hot exhaust manifold, so look forward to smoke.

If it doesn't leak, then you don't have to worry ..........today. All that gasket compund is going to be fun to clean off if it ever does leak and need to be changed. Hang on to that old rubber gasket

was the gasket black with metal gommets around the bolts, or blue? If it was blue, its the fel pro, and not worth much. If its black with grommets, its most likely the later ranger gasket and VERY re-usable. Mine has been on three different cars, (donor ranger and 2 TC's) and re-assembled problably 20 times, no leaks. This winter, it will go on its fourth car Wink

BTW, this probably goes along with the ranger roller cam in there. I picked mine up when I got the cam.

Seconded on the FelPro. I've reassembled mine a few times with no issues.

I've now personally seen 2 of the fel pro ones split, or get pushed out (different owners). There have also been several threads on TF about guys having leaks with them. I always say, Whatever works for you, I know what works for me Big Grin
