Upgrading parts

Hey everyone, I am getting a merkur t3 turbo for $125 shortly, I plan on upgrading my Fuel Pump. The article for the begginers mods section, said mustang. That had me confused, I want the thunderbird one right?
Also, if I want to run 20psi in a 88 thunderbird, What would I need? I want to change my timing as well. Should I get a FM3 chip?

So far I have a 3" exhaust, cone filter and boost control. What else should I get while I am at it? I want to get a FMIC and maybe a Ranger Roller however I heard it just if my valves are starting to go as it does not really do anything otherwise.

As for the fuel pump, I don't believe anyone makes one specifically for the thunderbirds. The Mustang pumps are supposed to work. Here are a couple I found on jegs.com

As for the rest, I'll let one of the other guys that know more chime in.

They have Bird specific real Walbro pumps. Prices aren't bad at all. I have used their HP 255 kit and it works great.

I don't think you will need any kind of chip for 20psi on a stock T3. I would make sure ignition timing is stock and not advanced, run premium fuel only and it would be a worthy investment to get a wideband on that thing pronto. That way you can see if VAM tweaks will be needed to keep the AFR happy under boost. The 3" exhaust will help a bunch.

As for the cam, you are correct. The RR is just a decent drop in for a worn out slider.

Thanks everyone and you specifically, I appreciate the help I will defiantly order one tonight!

About the wideband, where do I get one? I don't know much about that subject so I am lost. I run 93 in it at all times.

Innovate and AEM are the two most common Wideband setups people use. I still haven't installed it, but I ordered mine through Jegs. Basically the purpose of running one is to protect you engine from running too lean. It allows you to monitor your air/fuel ratio on the fly, and tune accordingly to keep it safe. Of course, there's not much tuning you can do with the factory PCM, but you'll still know if you've exceeded your safe limits before anything bad happens to your motor.

I prefer the AEM. That's the only one I have used for several years.
Search for AEM UEGO controller and then just look for a good price. I think they run $160-$200 or so. Back when I first started modding my TC, a wideband would have saved me some carnage for sure.

Edit: You also have to ask yourself what the goal is for the car. Anything more than 250hp or so and a some kind of tuner or standalone becomes a great investment. If I had it to do over again, I would have sprung for a megasquirt system right off the bat and started learning to use it while the car was still stock/mildly modded. Everyone says they only want a little more, but we all know the truth don't we, Lol!!
