Well guys, I think I'm going to check out that maroon TC and get a loan if I have to.But, I am officially admitting defeat on all my other cars. It's just too much. I went to the garage where my black 88 is at to start on the engine. The 84 block my buddy said would work and you guys said would work is apparently not an 84 block. Could not get the rear main seal on. Box said the year was 81 to 90-something seal. Father in law (ASE certified) said the block was an old rope style seal, probably a '70s block. I couldn't even get the bearing in the rear main cap, cap was too big. Crank was still hard to turn with only the first four caps on snugged down by hand! So I spent 250 bucks on new pistons, 30 over bore, new freeze plugs and cam bearings for a nice big paper weight. I haven't even started on the head, radiator, making sure the transmission is ok, the new brakes it needs, etc...guys, I'm spent! I have a 16 month old and a 88lx 5.0 that's about to blow. I need a car and if i'm going to end up blowing a couple grand or so, I might as well go for a garage kept 65 thousand mile well kept version! So If anyone is interested, I will probably be selling the 88 auto fairly cheap before I get into a hole I can't dig out of!!!I have no time to be wrenching on cars right now, I'm too tired. Okay, thanks for the shoulder (anyone have a hanky?)
