...so I turned it back down.

What could I do to keep it fast, but not knock? I'm running 19 psi from my IHI, through the Audi FMIC and I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Perhaps turn down the boost a notch, and slightly up the fuel pressure?

I had it at approximately 14-15*. Man was it fun!!

Five things you can do.
1. Decrease boost. Yea, right.
2. Reduce timing. Good idea.
3. Increase octane. MONEY.
4. Decrease inlet temperature to cylinders. Money. Bigger IC.
5. Fuel pressure. Check at boost, too.

DO NOT RUN WHERE YOU KNOW THE ENGINE WILL KNOCK.

Yeah, I know. As soon as I heard knock, I took it back home and turned it back to where it was. I could go with a bigger I/C, but it was cool out today, and I didn't have a lot of run time on the engine, so I'd bet that's not the issue.

Didn't think about octane. I may have to head to my local Sherwin Williams for some toulene.

Is this your 87 or 85? I have an 88 (basically stock) and run it around 17 to 18 and it never knocks...the knock sensor is still hooked up. One of these days I'll get my GN IC and alcohol injection in then I'll disconnect that PITA!

Since nothing was said about your fuel pump, here's some info: The stock fuel pump is barely adequate for a stock TC. You really need to upgrade it if you haven't already.

Fuel starvation = lean = detonation = bad things.

HTH.

This is the 87. I was watching the fuel pressure gauge and it seemed to be working fine Would kick up to about 42-45 and kick back down on idle.
